Case Study - Manufacturing & Industrial

Industrial CCTV for Two Ontario Manufacturing Facilities

Thermon, a global leader in industrial process heating, needed a security camera system that could handle the conditions of two large manufacturing plants.

Citadel designed and installed NDAA compliant cameras with 24/7 continuous recording, covering production areas, loading docks, and the perimeter at both sites.

The Challenge

Round-the-Clock Plants Need
Round-the-Clock Footage

Thermon operates two large manufacturing facilities in Ontario, where production, shipping, and receiving often continue around the clock.

The sites needed video surveillance that could handle dust, temperature changes, and the physical demands of an industrial floor.

As a global industrial technology company, Thermon also required hardware that met NDAA compliance standards.

Footage had to be recorded continuously and remain available at any time, so motion-only recording was not an option.

Our Solution

One CCTV Standard for Two Manufacturing Plants

Citadel designed a heavy-duty CCTV system built on NDAA compliant IP cameras in industrial-rated housings.

We placed cameras to cover production areas, loading docks, entry points, and the exterior perimeter at both facilities. Each site records 24/7 to dedicated network video recorders, with storage sized to keep continuous footage.

We applied the same hardware and configuration standard at both locations, which may help simplify maintenance and give management one consistent way to review footage across sites.

Coverage Areas

Industrial-Grade Cameras, Recording Every Hour of Every Day

Equipment & Safety Oversight

Cameras over the main production areas give supervisors a view of equipment, workstations, and the movement of materials.

Placement took machinery, lighting, and overhead structures into account to keep sightlines clear.

Recorded footage may help with incident reviews and safety checks.

Delivery Verification

Shipping & Receiving

Loading docks see constant truck, forklift, and foot traffic.

We positioned cameras to capture dock doors, staging areas, and the vehicles coming and going.

This coverage may help verify deliveries and resolve questions about shipments.

After-Hours Protection

Perimeter & Parking

Exterior cameras cover building entrances, fence lines, and parking areas at both sites. Infrared night vision keeps these areas visible after dark.

Continuous recording means overnight and weekend activity is captured along with daytime operations.

Project Process

How We Delivered the Project

Site Assessment

  • Our team walked both facilities to map blind spots, cable routes, and areas with heavy equipment or harsh conditions.

  • We met with site managers to understand shift schedules, high-risk zones, and how footage would be used.

System Design

  • We chose NDAA compliant cameras and planned storage around 24/7 continuous recording.

  • Camera types, lenses, and mounting positions were matched to each area, from open production floors to exterior fence lines.

Installation

  • Work was scheduled around production so the plants could keep operating during the install.

  • Our technicians followed each facility’s safety procedures and worked area by area to limit disruption.

Handover & Support

  • We configured remote access, walked the client’s team through the system, and remain available for ongoing support.

  • Camera locations and network details were documented so future maintenance or expansion may be easier to plan.

Project Results

What We Delivered for Thermon

The finished system gives Thermon consistent video coverage across both Ontario facilities, built around the way their plants operate day and night. Each part of the project was planned to meet the client’s compliance requirements and handle the conditions of an industrial site. Here’s what the completed installation includes.

Recording

Both facilities record 24/7, with footage available whenever it’s needed. Overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays are captured the same way as regular operating hours.

Consistency

One Standard, Two Sites

The same equipment and setup at both locations may help make support and training simpler. Staff moving between facilities work with a familiar system at each one.

Compliance

NDAA Compliant Hardware

Cameras and recorders meet the client’s corporate procurement standards. Choosing compliant equipment from the start may help avoid replacing hardware later to meet policy requirements.

Accessibility

Remote Access

Authorized managers can view live and recorded footage from desktop or mobile. This may help with reviewing incidents without being on site.

Coverage

Full Site Coverage

Production floors, loading docks, entrances, and the perimeter are all covered. Camera placement was planned to reduce blind spots in high-traffic and high-risk areas.

Durability

Built for Industry

Industrial-rated housings protect the cameras from dust, vibration, and temperature swings. Exterior units were selected to handle Ontario’s winters.

Project Scope

Services Used in This Project

Each service can be delivered on its own or combined into one integrated system for your facility. Many of our commercial clients start with security cameras and later add network upgrades, access control, or remote monitoring as their needs change. Planning these systems together may help reduce installation time, simplify cabling, and make day-to-day management easier for your team.
